VAN NUYS, CA — A Panorama City man pleaded no contest Tuesday to kidnapping the brother of former Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Josh Ravin just over two years ago.

James Edward Baggett, 30, is facing 13 years in state prison, with sentencing set for Feb. 7 in a Van Nuys courtroom, according to Ricardo Santiago of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Two other counts against Baggett -- attempted murder and kidnapping to commit another crime -- are expected to be dismissed next month, Santiago said.

Co-defendant Randall Elmer Stinson, 32, of Panorama City is charged with attempted murder, kidnapping and kidnapping to commit another crime, according to Santiago. Stinson is due back in court Jan. 25 for a pretrial hearing.

Joel Keith Ravin was kidnapped, forced into a vehicle and driven to various locations on Oct. 4, 2015, prosecutors said shortly after the case was filed.

The 30-year-old man was then driven back to his West Hills residence, where he was shot multiple times but survived, according to police and prosecutors.

Stinson was arrested just over two weeks later by Los Angeles police, and Baggett turned himself in to authorities early the next month. Both men have been behind bars since then.

Josh Ravin pitched for the Dodgers from 2015-17, and is now a member of the Atlanta Braves.
