Valley Man Shoves Elderly Mother out Second Story Window, Police Say
A man shoved his mother out a second story window and jumped out after her to continue kicking, according to the LAPD.

VAN NUYS, CA -- A Van Nuys man is facing murder charges today after allegedly shoving his elderly mother out a second story window before jumping out after her to kick and stomp on her in front of horrified onlookers, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Carlota Vargas, 70, died from her injuries. Her son, Fernando Vargas, 40, was hospitalized for a foot injury and booked on suspicion of murder, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Norma Eisenman.
"According to witness at the scene, the suspect jumped out the same window and began kicking and stomping the woman at the upper torso," said Eisenman.

A neighbor told ABC7 that she saw Vargas stomping the woman and was horrified.
"Somebody yelled out for him to stop and he said that she was going to die anyway so that it didn't matter no more," she told Channel 7.

Vargas was being held on a $2 million bail and is due in court Wednesday, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department online inmate records.
His mother suffered internal injuries and trauma to the upper torso and died at a hospital, Eisenman said.
The attack happened at 3 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 7400 block of Hazeltine Avenue
