Verne Troyer, Austin Powers' Mini-Me, Hospitalized

Verne Troyer, the actor made famous for his role in "Austin Powers," has been hospitalized following reports that he was suicidal.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — Verne Troyer, the actor who famously played Dr. Evil’s Mini-Me in “Austin Powers,” remains hospitalized on a psychiatric hold following reports that he was suicidal.

Emergency personnel were called to his North Hollywood home at 7: 30 p.m. Monday in response to a report of poisoning, according to The Blast.

According to TMZ, a friend of Troyer’s called the authorities, reporting that the actor was “extremely upset, drunk and suicidal.” The 49-year-old star has fought a very public battle with alcohol addiction for years.

Troyer’s Instagram page Tuesday asked for fans to pray for his recovery.

“Asking you to keep Verne in your thoughts and prayers. He’s getting the best care possible and is resting comfortably. Appreciate the support from family, friends, and fans around the world. We will keep you updated here.”

Under three-feet tall, Troyer is also famous for being one of the shortest men in the world thanks to achondroplasia dwarfism.
