Voodoo Doughnuts to Work Its Magic in Los Angeles

The famed Portland doughnuter is bringing its voodoolicious brand of confection to Los Angeles.

Voodoo Doughnuts is heading to Los Angeles.

Co-owner Kenneth "Cat Daddy" Pogson made the announcement at an event on Friday.

The outpost will be located at Universal CityWalk, adjacent to Universal Studios Hollywood.

"We are beyond thrilled to open Voodoo Doughnut at Universal CityWalk and share our menu of fabulous, unconventional doughnuts with the world at the top entertainment destination in Los Angeles," said Voodoo Doughnut owner, Kenneth 'Cat Daddy' Pogson.

"Our signature and one-of-a-kind doughnuts are the perfect complement to CityWalk’s over-the-top vibrancy."

The hope is to have the shop, which will be located near the "5 Towers" concert stage and next to the Universal Cinemas, open this fall.

"We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Voodoo Doughnut to Universal CityWalk as we begin to phase in the next evolution of our dynamic CityWalk entertainment complex," said Morell Marean, Senior Vice President, Food and Restaurant Operations, Universal Studios Hollywood.

The Portland chain has three locations in its home city (one of which is part of the Cartlandia food cart pod), as well as locations in Eugene, Denver, Austin, and Taipei.

They become the latest iconic Portland food business to eye Los Angeles for expansion.

Salt and Straw Ice Cream and Stumptown Coffee are down there and noted chef Jenn Louis who has two restaurants in Portland is working on one in Los Angeles.
