The Federal is a gastropub that opened in early 2011 and which doesn't just serve burgers, but a wide variety of other fine cuisine, microbrews and wine. It is also is a popular bar, nightlife spot and live music venue located in an old bank building that has been beautifully renovated. Their signature burger, The Federal, is a gourmet-style burger and costs $11.

These two restaurants could not be any more different, nor could their burgers, but they were in a dead heat all week until The Federal pulled ahead in the last two days.

Jack's Classic Hamburgers is throw-back burger stand and a neighborhood favorite located at the corner of Riverside Drive and Tujunga Avenue in West Toluca Lake. Jack's has been serving up "old-fashioned" burgers since 1979. There is no indoor seating as you order at the window, although a few picnic tables are there for folks who want to enjoy their burgers right away. The price is old-fashioned too, coming in at $3.50 for a cheeseburger, or $4.25 for the double.
