Walt Disney Studio Worker Killed Walking To Work In Suspected DUI
Police said the 37-year-old driver in the Burbank incident, which included plowing into three other vehicles, was arrested.

BURBANK, CA – A 54-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car today as she walked to work at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank and the driver was arrested by police, who said alcohol or drugs or a combination of both were involved.
The victim, later identified as Michelle Landes of Los Angeles, was struck about 9:10 a.m. while in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Alameda Avenue and Lincoln Street, according to Burbank Police Sgt. Derek Green.
She was a Walt Disney Co. employee walking to work at the company's nearby offices, according to ABC7.

After hitting the pedestrian, the car struck three other vehicles, but only Landes was seriously injured. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, Green said.
Two men in the car that hit her were detained, "as alcohol, drugs or a combination of both appeared to be factors in the collision," according to Green, who said police conducted a DUI investigation that included a drug influence evaluation.

The driver, 37-year-old Stergios Economos of Burbank was arrested and booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, Green said. He was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and is due in court on Monday in Burbank, the sergeant said.
The detained passenger was released.
Following the accident, Alameda Avenue was closed between Buena Vista and Keystone streets until just before 1 p.m., Green said.
