Wildfire Fire Breaks Out In Sunland-Tujunga

TUJUNGA, CA — A brush fire scorched at least four acres and threatened structures Thursday evening in the Sunland-Tujunga area.

The fire was reported about 7:55 p.m. in the 11100 block of Oro Vista Avenue, according to Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters mounted a ground and air attack on the fire as it burned through heavy brush amid light winds, although gusts to 10 mph were reported, Bastman said.

Crews were positioned to protect structures in the Riverwood area that had been threatened, she said.

No evacuations were ordered and no structures were destroyed, according to Bastman, who said the bulk of the fire was in a wash.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department sent air and ground crews and the U.S. Forest Service units also responded to the blaze.

More than 130 LAFD firefighters were deployed, Bastman said, and had set up a hose line completely surrounding the fire area.

Full containment of the blaze is expected by early Friday, according to Bastman.
