Will He or Won't He? Campbell Hall's Ehrlich to Decide on Joining the Majors or Playing College Baseball
The Campbell Hall student is drafted in the sixth round by the St. Louis Cardinals and says he will decide any moment.

Adam Ehrlich has a huge decision to make, and it could come sooner rather than later.
The Campbell Hall High baseball star was drafted in the sixth round by the St. Louis Cardinals, and now the catcher is either going to sign a professional contract or honor a letter-of-intent to play at Loyola Marymount University.
There are a lot of variables, but a sixth-round choice can expect a signing bonus of up to $500,000, so there is a lot on the line.

“I’m going to have a little bit of a better idea later tonight or tomorrow if I’m signing or not,” Ehrlich sid. “I will know for sure tomorrow.”
Since being drafted following a senior season that included a .566 batting average, five home runs and a San Fernando Valley-best 49 RBIs, Ehrlich has been asked about a million times what he is going to do.

“It’s fine,” he said, laughing. “I’m excited for whatever the future brings, and I’m very blessed to have such great options.”
The big news at Campbell Hall is the emergence of basketball phenom Aaron Holiday, an incoming ninth-grader who scored 54 points Monday in his summer-league debut in a loss to Simi Valley.
Holiday is the brother of former Campbell Hall star Jrue Holiday, now a top player in the NBA, so the good bloodlines are obvious, but no one expected such a breakout performance for a 5-foot-10 guard playing against opposing teams featuring most older players.
You can check out Holiday in the War on the Floor tournament beginning Saturday at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, and Campbell Hall also is participating in the Fairfax tournament later this month.
“We’re a bit depleted by injuries, academic commitments and outside-of-basketball commitments, but this is a chance for all of our participating athletes to gain quality experience,” coach Steve Wachs said.
NORTH HOLLYWOOD SOFTBALL IMPRESSES AT WATTS GAMES
Despite playing without standout pitcher Danielle Feuer, North Hollywood High’s softball team finished second at the annual Watts Summer Games, losing to Lincoln in the final.
Along the way, the Huskies defeated Banning and Hamilton.
“We’re better on defense this season,” coach Robert Ruffin said.
North Hollywood starts its summer season Saturday against visiting Faith Baptist.
“I think we’re going to be better. We just have to play hard and smart,” Ruffin said.
PETCHAKAN READIES FOR COLLEGE GOLF
Monica Petchakan, the standout girls golfer from North Hollywood who is headed to Oregon in the fall, is working hard on her game in preparation for going to the next level.
“I’m planning to play in some local amateur tournaments to prepare myself,” she said.
READY FOR BIG-TIME FOOTBALL?
Campbell Hall's football team is playing against larger schools at the annual Saugus Under the Lights passing tournament, beginning today at Central Park in Saugus. The two-day event gives the Vikings a chance to test themselves against tough competition, as such high-profile programs as Long Beach Poly, Westlake, Valencia, Hart and Oaks Christian are among the participants.
Fortunately for Campbell Hall, top quarterback R.J. Gordon and 6-foot-3 receivers Josh Ross and Dustin Drai return, so the Vikings have some good building blocks. Pool competition finishes tonight, and the top 16 compete in an elimination tournament Saturday with the championship game slated for 8 p.m.
