Woman Hits Armed Robber with Her Car, Escaping as He Shoots at Her

A gunman robbed a couple in North Hollywood shooting at them as they fled.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA - A gunman who tried to rob a man and a woman outside an apartment building in North Hollywood this morning got some money from the man, then fired at the woman as she tried to flee, police said.

The robbery took place outside an apartment building in the 6800 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard about 4:50 a.m., according to LAPD spokesman Ricardo Hernandez.

"The robber stopped the man and woman at gunpoint and demanded money from both of them," Hernandez said. "The man pulled some money out of his pocket, threw it on the ground and started to run from the scene.

"When the man ran, the woman ran to her car, got in and began driving away," Hernandez said. "The gunman picked up the money from the ground, then fired at the woman's car and she then hit the gunman with her car as she fled the scene."

Hernandez said the two victims told police the robber got up from the ground, got into a car and drove away. The two victims called police and came back to the scene to meet the LAPD officers who responded.

"Neither of the victims were injured," Hernandez said. "We don't know if the robber was hurt when he was hit by the woman's car."

Police had no immediate description of the robber, Hernandez said. However, he is believed to have fled in a black Honda Civic.
