Woman Injured, Coyote Killed When Struck by Metrolink Train

The incident occurs on the 9500 block of North San Fernando Road about 5:30 a.m.

A Metrolink train traveling between the Sylmar and Sun Valley stations injured a woman today and fatally struck a coyote, authorities said.

Paramedics sent to the 9500 block of North San Fernando Road about 5:30 a.m. transported the woman to a hospital in fair condition for treatment of injuries to her right hand, arm and leg, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The coyote died on the tracks.

Some train delays of up to 90 minutes were reported, said Metrolink spokeswoman Sherita Coffelt.
