Worker Fatally Injured in Fall at Universal CityWalk

A worker who was fatally injured in a fall at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk was identified today as a Sylmar man.

Paramedics were sent to the arena about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on a report that a man had fallen about 60 feet from some scaffolding, a county fire department spokesman said.

Jose Lucero Jr., 22, died at a hospital, coroner's Chief Craig Harvey said.

Cal/OSHA investigators were notified of the death. The case was being investigated as an "at-work injury," Harvey said.
