14-Year-Old SoCal Boy's Joyride In Stolen Car Ends With Arrest: Police

Police were flagged after a license plate reader detected a reported stolen car.

SIMI VALLEY, CA — A Southern California teen boy's cruise with friends in a stolen car landed him in handcuffs and back to his parents this week, police said.

The 14-year-old Simi Valley boy and three friends were pulled over by police around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday after a Flock camera — which reads license plates — detected a stolen vehicle traveling around the city, according to the Simi Valley Police Department.

Police said the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day. When officers pulled over the vehicle, they found four teenagers, including the teen driver, police said.

The teen behind the wheel was arrested and released to his parents. The other three juveniles were also released to their parents at the scene.

The stolen vehicle was also returned to its owner, according to police.
