Burglars Snatch Vehicle At Initial Residential Alarm Call In SFV

The latest in a string of burglaries in the San Fernando Valley occurred Saturday morning.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The latest in a string of burglaries in the San Fernando Valley occurred Saturday morning where suspects snatched a vehicle from a West Hills home, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched at 2:27 a.m. to a residential alarm at a home in the 24400 block of Highlander Road, said Officer Jason Lee of the LAPD's Media Relations Section.

Lee said the suspects took a vehicle at the home and officers wrote up a grand theft auto report. He said he had no description of the stolen vehicle or of the suspects allegedly involved in the theft.

KTLA5 reported that a truck was stolen from the driveway of the home, allegedly containing tools and important paperwork.

The crime is one of the latest amid a string of burglaries in the San Fernando Valley. Police have responded with extra patrols and various investigative techniques.

Some of the burglaries are alleged to have involved international crime rings. Others have targeted athletes and celebrities.

According to one broadcast report, the victims in this case included two children who were told to stay put and they wouldn't get hurt.

The property stolen was reportedly jewelry, a cellphone and other items, and then the suspects fled.

No injuries were reported, according to the LAPD.
