ENCINO, CA — An evacuation warning was issued Tuesday afternoon as firefighters battled a small brush fire near the Encino Reservoir, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire was reported at 12:08 p.m. in the 4500 block of North Encino Avenue. It initially burned about a half-acre of light brush and later grew to about 5 acres, officials said.

Forward progress stopped at 2:16 p.m., the LAFD said.

The fire led to downed power lines; city crews were responding to repair them.

LAFD crews, heavy equipment and air operations were sent to the scene, officials said.

No injuries were reported, and no structures had been affected, according to the department.

"LAFD Air Operations continue to monitor conditions from overhead. LAFD crews will remain on scene for several hours for mop-up and 100% containment of the burned area, to include a complete bare-earth perimeter," officials said.

People around the Encino Reservoir were urged to prepare to evacuate if conditions worsen, officials said.
