CHATSWORTH, CA — Sierra Canyon School is planning a new 6.5-acre athletic complex in Chatsworth that would include a swimming pool, tennis courts, running track and multipurpose sports field.
The private school is proposing to develop the facility at the northwest corner of Chatsworth Street and Canoga Avenue.
According to the school's project website, the complex would feature an eight-lane swimming pool, six tennis courts, a six-lane running track and a field for football, soccer and lacrosse. Plans also include changing rooms, offices, parking and landscaping.
The facility would primarily be used for student practices, although the school is exploring the possibility of hosting some varsity swimming and tennis competitions.
Sierra Canyon hopes to have the complex partially operational by the start of the 2027-28 school year. The project's estimated cost and required city approvals have not been disclosed.
The school outlined its plans in an Oct. 29 letter included in the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council's Nov. 4 meeting packet.
Residents will have an opportunity to learn more about the proposal at a community open house Thursday, Nov. 12, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Kardashian Jenner Pavilion, 11052 Independence Ave. in Chatsworth.
