Armed Man Barricades Himself In Car During Valley Standoff: LAPD
An armed man barricaded himself inside his car during a standoff in the San Fernando Valley Thursday morning.
NORTH HILLS, CA — An armed man who was barricaded inside his car was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff Thursday morning, according to police.
Officers noticed the car parked illegally at the corner of Hayvenhurst Avenue and Schoenborn Street just after 3 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
When officers approached, they saw the man slumped over the steering wheel. He had a gun visible inside the car, Fox 11 reported.

Officers issued the man several verbal commands, but he did not responded. The Honda's tinted windows made it difficult to observe the condition of the driver, police said.
A SWAT team was called to the scene. The man was taken into custody just after 6:30 a.m., Fox 11 reported.
