Brush Fire Breaks Out Alongside 118 Freeway

The blaze scorched a small patch of brush alongside the freeway, but caused considerable freeway congestion.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A small fire scorched a patch brush alongside the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in Mission Hills Tuesday afternoon

The fire burned alongside the 118 East near Sepulveda Boulevard. The blaze broke out shortly after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, and Los Angeles Fire Department crews were able to douse the flames within 19 minutes, according to fire officials. Less than an acre was burned. No one was injured in the fire, and no structures were threatened, but the blaze did jam up afternoon traffic on the 118.

Drivers are advised to find alternate routes or expect delays as one or more lane remains closed for the duration of the cleanup effort, according to fire department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
