Brush Fire Doused Near Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway
Air crews were called in to help battle a small brush fire fanned by 25 mile per hour wind gusts in Porter Ranch Wednesday.
PORTER RANCH, CA — Firefighters quickly doused a small brush fire in the Porter Ranch area Wednesday morning. No one was hurt in the blaze, which was driven by Santa Ana winds.
The fire scorched about an acre of brush the 11000 block of North Winnetka Avenue just before 11 a.m. Wednesday, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Air crews were called into help ground crews stop the blaze from spreading. Crews were able to out out the flames in about a half-hour, Humphrey said.
The fire's cause was under investigation. Santa Ana winds of about 25 mph were reported in the area. Heavy wind gusts are expected to continue in the area through Thursday.
