Brush Fire Scorches A Half-Acre Near Chatsworth

Firefighters quickly contained a brush fire at the county line.

CHATSWORTH, CA — After quickly dousing a brush fire in the Chatsworth area Monday evening, crews remained on scene to monitor hotspots.

Crews from two counties worked to contain the brush fire to just half an acre in the 11500 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard near the Ventura County line, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The fire broke out at about 7:05 p.m. Monday, and by 7:41 p.m., the bulk of the fire had been extinguished and firefighters established hand lines around the perimeter, said LA Fire spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

Firefighters from Ventura County joined in the fight to contain the slow-moving brush fire.
