Chatsworth Man Arrested In Street Racing Assault On Officers
Prosecutors alleged a group of street races assaulted LAPD officers as they pursued a street-racing hit-and-run.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A Chatsworth man is among seven alleged street racers facing charges Monday for allegedly assaulting police officers as they broke up a recent street racing event.
All seven defendants are facing two felony counts of assault upon a peace officer and one felony count each of resisting an officer and throwing an object at a vehicle with intent to cause great bodily injury. Six of the men pleaded not guilty at an earlier hearing and are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 24 to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.
Kylee Michael Carter, 21, is awaiting arraignment.

The other defendants are:

-- Markie Dijion Gatewood, 21, of Los Angeles;
-- Steven Hurtado, 18, of Paramount;
-- Christopher Luis Ramirez, 21, of Chatsworth;
-- Michael Robert Ramirez, 20, of Carson; and
-- Davion Anthony Williams, 20.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, two officers witnessed a hit-and-run crash during a street-race April 18 at West Manchester and South Western avenues
The officers gave chase but were forced to stop when the defendants allegedly blocked the patrol vehicle and members of a crowd of onlookers began throwing rocks and bottles at the patrol car, prosecutors contend. The hit-and-run suspect got away.
All defendant face up to seven years and eight months in prison.
