Classmates Stop Stabbing Of Boy, 12, In Elementary School Brawl

A fight between two sixth-graders at a Stevenson Ranch school left one 12-year-old with stab wounds and another in police custody.

STEVENSON RANCH, CA — Children at a Stevenson Ranch elementary school intervened to stop the stabbing of a classmate Friday morning. The fight between two boys at Pico Canyon Elementary left a 12-year-old boy hospitalized with stab wounds and another child in police custody, according to sheriff's officials.

The stabbing happened at the start of class at about 8 a.m. at the school on 25255 Pico Canyon Road.

The injured boy, a sixth-grader, was hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries, according to the sheriff's department. The boy suffered a couple of puncture marks, according to police. The 12-year-old boy, who allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed his classmate was detained for questioning.

Fellow students pulled the victim to safety and stopped the attack. School officials will bring in counselors to talk help students through the trauma. The teacher was able to grab the knife and took the weapon and the boy to the principal's office before deputies arrived, according to reports from the scene.
