Emeritus Seniors Celebrate Facility's New Look
The $1.4 million makeover was first major renovation for the building since 1981.

Emeritus at Chatsworth, a senior-living facility at 20801 Devonshire St., has completed a $1.4 million facelift.
More than 200 neighbors and business representatives joined residents, their families and staff for the recent ribbon cutting, followed by a buffet reception and entertainment.
“It was time to bring a new look to the center,” said Executive Director Brenda Hans. “Everyone was happy to see the peach and green wallpaper go along with the outdated chandeliers.”

The $1.4 million dollar makeover included the community’s common areas and exterior. New carpet, paint, floors, lighting and furnishings were all accomplished in just four months throughout the two-story building.
Rana Ghadban, executive director of the Chatsworth/Porter Ranch Chamber of Commerce said, “You bring excellent service to our seniors.”

It was the first major renovation for the building since 1981. The assisted-living community was originally owned by Summerville Senior Living and merged with Emeritus Senior Living in 2008. The renovation design was created in-house by the parent company and contracted local businesses.
Resident Doris Rudy, 97, couldn’t stay seated during the live entertainment. Her favorite dance tunes brought her to her feet with crooner Marv Robinson. When asked if she liked the community’s new look, Rudy replied, “I think it’s absolutely perfect. If I still had my own home, I would have had these people decorate it the same way.”
