The English Tudor-style house, designed in 1937 by architect Paul R. Williams for actress Barbara Stanwyck, which in 1940 became the home of actor Jack Oakie and wife Victoria Home. The home and grounds were almost lost to development. Former LA City Councilman Greig Smith, working with the LA City Dept of Recreation and Parks, saved it as a cultural monument.
