Fatal Northridge Hit And Run: Police Arrest 1 Person

Police made one arrest in Friday's fatal hit and run near Northridge and Van Nuys after a member of the public submitted a tip.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — The Los Angeles Police Department arrested on person in connection with Friday's fatal hit and run accident near Northridge and Van Nuys, according to LAPD.

Police did not identify the suspect Wednesday.

The arrest was made after police received a tip from a citizen, according to police. Police solicited the public's help Friday with details about the suspect's car.

An 85-year-old man was fatally struck Friday around 2:40 p.m. at the 17300 block of Saticoy Street as he was crossing Saticoy Street on foot, police said. He was transported to a local hospital where he died shortly after, police said.

Individuals who give tips that help police identify, apprehend or convict a hit and run offender could receive up to $50,000, police said. It is unclear whether the citizen who gave this tip will receive money.
