Fire Scorches Porter Ranch Home
Paramedics treated a man at the scene of an overnight fire in Porter Ranch where a man attempted to douse the flames himself.

PORTER RANCH, CA — A man was treated by paramedics after trying to put out a fire that broke out in the middle of the night in a Porter Ranch neighborhood Thursday.
The fire scorched a one-story home on the 10400 N. Key West Ave., said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The fire department was called to the scene at 2:05 a.m, and it took 33 firefighters about 20 minutes to knock it down, she added.
The resident, a 37-year-old man attempted to put out the fire himself until firefighters arrived. He was evaluated by paramedics at the scene, but he opted not to be taken to a hospital, according to Stewart. All the home's other occupants made it out safely, Stewart added.

The fire appears to have been caused by an electrical fault on the home's exterior, she said.
