Granada Hills Quake Rattles Los Angeles
An earthquake struck in Granada Hills Tuesday night causing minor shaking across the Los Angeles region.
GRANADA HILLS, CA — A 3.6 magnitude earthquake struck just northeast of Granada Hills Tuesday night at 11:41 p.m., prompting firefighters and police officers to fan out across Los Angeles assessing damage. It was felt across the Los Angeles region.
The quake was epicentered just two miles north-northeast of Granada Hills, the Caltech Seismological Laboratory reported. The quake occurred at a depth of 4.3 miles.
The Los Angeles Fire Department went into its earthquake emergency mode with "fire department vehicles and helicopters patrolling our 470 square- mile jurisdiction to identify any damage or emergency needs," the department's Nicholas Prange said.

Residents across the Los Angeles region reported the shaking, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The jolting primarily affected the San Fernando Valley, but residents reported shaking as far west as Santa Monica, east into the San Gabriel Valley, as far north as Camarillo and south into Irvine.
There were no immediate reports of injury or structural damage.
