Gunam Prompts Standoff In Winnetka-Chatsworth Area

A man was hospitalized after holding an LAPD SWAT Team at bay for five hours Thursday.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A report of a gunman in a Winnetka neighborhood prompted an evacuation and a five-hour SWAT Team standoff Thursday morning. Eventually police took the suspect into custody, and he was taken to a hospital for medical treatment, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police responded to a report of a shooting at 5:17 a.m. in the 600 block of Fulbright Avenue, where they found a man who refused to come out of the house, according to Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Tony Im.
“They set up perimeter and began evacuating residents in the area,” Im said.

Residents were asked to avoid streets in the neighborhood, which borders Chatsworth.
