No Active Shooter Found At Olive View-UCLA Medical Center: Police
After an unconfirmed report of a possible "person with a gun," law enforcement conducted a search and found no active shooter.

SYLMAR, CA – A lockdown of patients and staff and some evacuations were prompted at Los Angeles County Olive View-UCLA Medical Thursday after an unconfirmed report of a possible "person with a gun" was disclosed. Deputies sent to the facility at 14445 Olive View Drive at 9:20 a.m. reported that "no active shooter" had been found, according to the sheriff's department, but law enforcement continued a methodical search of the property.
No shots were believed to have been fired and no injuries were reported. Sheriff's officials said the initial report indicated only that a person possibly carrying a gun had been spotted at the hospital.
Lois Ramirez of the hospital told KNX Newsradio that the facility was placed on lockdown after "the sheriff's department had called in what we call a 'code silver."'

"That immediately prompted us to do a lockdown of all patients and staff in the hospital," Ramirez said shortly after 10 a.m. "We (will) remain on lockdown until we get an all-clear from the sheriff's department ..."
Ramirez said patients who had come in for procedures or tests will remain in the clinic until cleared to leave. Anyone with appointments, however, will not be allowed into the facility "until the situation is cleared," Ramirez said. "There is no active shooter," she said.

The hospital serves a major portion of the Antelope Valley. Some people were questioned as possible witnesses or suspects, but no arrests had been made. Olive View Drive was shut down in the area.
Dozens of patients and hospital workers could be seen leaving the building, walking to a parking lot holding area as sheriff's investigators released them from the facility.
