Hazardous Material Accident Burns Woman In Northridge

Hazardous materials specialists were dispatched In Northridge where a woman suffered burns when a vial of hazardous chemicals broke.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — A woman was taken to a hospital Tuesday after a mix of chemicals in a vial burst, causing the substances get on her face and arms.

Firefighters responded about 2:15 p.m. to the scene in an industrial area in the 9100 block of of North Oso Avenue, according to Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The victim's condition was not immediately available.

Hazardous materials specialists and a hazard assessment team were dispatched to investigate, according to Bastman, who said the 9-millimeter vial contained a mixture of nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid and other chemicals.
