Hiker Sexually Assaulted Along Mulholland Drive Trail

Police are warning people to take precautions after a man attacked a woman in broad day light on the popular hiking trail.

ENCINO, CA — Police are looking for a man who attacked a woman on a Los Angeles hiking trail this month, dragging her off to a secluded area and sexually assaulting her.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Police Department released information about the attack, which occurred at about noon on Nov. 21 along a trail near the 17000 block of Mulholland Drive.

"The suspect approached the victim from behind, forced her to a secluded area, and sexually assaulted her," the LAPD said in a written release.

According to investigators, the suspect appeared white or Hispanic, about 30 years old and had a two-inch scar on his right forearm. Anyone with information about the attack or the suspect is urged to contact Detective Joseph Hampton at 36817@lapd.online or by phone at 818-374-7717 or anonymously at 800-222-8477.

"As a reminder, hike in pairs and tell someone where you are going," police warned. "Carry a cell phone in case of an emergency and always be aware of your surroundings."
