Man Arrested In Violent CSUN Campus Sexual Assaults

Prosecutors allege a Northridge man, 26 attacked and sexually assaulted two women in separate attacks at Cal State Northridge this week.

SAN FERNANDO, CA — Prosecutors charged a 26-year-old man Friday in a series of violent sexual assaults at Cal State Northridge.

Authorities allege Peter Wei, 26, of Northridge, attacked two women in incidents a day apart this week on campus. Wei faces was to be arraigned Friday on two felony counts of assault to commit a felony, including rape, sodomy or oral copulation, and one misdemeanor count each of battery and resisting, delaying or obstructing a peace officer, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. A defense attorney declared a doubt about the Northridge man's mental competency, according to Paul Eakins of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

The first attacked happened Tuesday near a campus parking lot. Another attack happened the following day, according to authorities.

Wei was taken into custody Wednesday by Cal State Northridge police. He's being held on $100,000 bail. Prosecutors are asking his bail be increased to $1 million.

Wei could face a maximum sentence of almost 13 years and six months in state prison if convicted as charged, according to the District Attorney's Office.
