Man Gets 10 Years For Chatsworth DUI Crash That Killed Brothers

A 23-year-old Simi Valley man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for drunkenly crashing into a truck, killing two brothers.

SAN FERNANDO, CA — A 23-year-old man who drunkenly killed two brothers in a Chatsworth crash was sentenced to 10 years in prison Wednesday.

Dylan Shane Rutherford, of Simi Valley was sentenced for the October 2016 DUI crash that killed Hector Castro, 44, and Ernesto Castro, 42, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

On Oct. 7, 2016,, Rutherford drove his black Ram 1500 pickup truck while under the influence of alcohol, and he ran a red light at De Soto Avenue and Chatsworth Street, striking a 1991 GMC pickup truck on Oct. 7, 2016, authorities said.

The truck that was struck overturned and crashed into a street light, with the Castro brothers being thrown from the vehicle and killed, according to Deputy District Attorney Matthew Vodnoy.
