Man Struck By Amtrak Train; Metrolink Delays Likely In The Valley

A man in his 20s died, and the investigation closed tracks between between Burbank Airport-South and Van Nuys.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Wednesday afternoon in the North Hollywood area.

As a result, the tracks are closed between Burbank Airport-South and Van Nuys, Amtrak announced. The investigation may result in delays to Metrolink and Amtrak train services in the region.

A man in his 20s was walking on the tracks in the 7100 block of Lankershim Boulevard shortly after noon when he was struck by Amtrak 769, according to authorities.

Paramedics were sent to the where they pronounced the victim dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

It wasn't clear why the man was walking on the tracks as the Pacific Surfliner traveled westbound toward him.

No other injuries were reported.
