May 7 Special Slower Welcome walk -hike in SSPSHP

Our “Welcome Walks” take place in the lower meadow area of the park and have less
hills and steep climbs than other hikes that we host. On the May 7 walk we are going to avoid all possible areas with significant hills, and go at a slow pace so community members that are not as agile and quick as some others can come along and not be left behind, or pressured to keep up at an uncomfortable pace. We’ll talk about historical uses of the park, plants, and anything else that comes to your attention.
Note – we still have ups and downs on the trails we will take, and this is NOT wheelchair accessible. In particular, there is an up/down slope that is unavoidable on the entrance trail – but it isn’t terribly steep or long, and we will take it easy ! We will also go up “view hill” near the meadow, but will take the less steep way up and down. A walking stick is an excellent accessory to provide additional balance by adding that third “foot”.
