Metropolitan Wind Symphony to Breeze Into CSUN

Renowned 70-piece concert band from Massachusetts is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the Metropolitan Wind Symphony is bringing its special sounds to Cal State Northridge's Plaza del Sol Performance Hall on Monday night. The acclaimed, 70-member concert band from Massachusetts specializes in traditional and contemporary music for winds and percussion as well as pops music.

The symphony will perform under the baton of Lawrence Stoffel, the director of bands at CSUN.

Founded in 1971 by Jerry Gardner as an ensemble for student musicians and educators, the Metropolitan Wind Symphony has evolved into one of New England's premier concert bands. Its woodwind, brass and percussion players are all volunteers, accepted by audition. The band performs throughout the metropolitan Boston area as well as on tour.
