Murder Suspect Police Chase Ends With Five-Hour Standoff

A murder suspect led police on a chase through the valley that ended with a crash and a five-hour standoff at an apartment building.

PANORAMA CITY, CA — A police chase ended with a crash and a possible murder suspect barricaded in a Panorama City apartment complex for five hours Monday night into Tuesday morning.

The suspect had run from the scene of the crash near Chase Street and Willis Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Monday to a nearby apartment complex, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police had been chasing the man in a black vehicle when he slammed into a white truck.

A Los Angeles Police Department SWAT Team surrounded the apartment building and blocked off the area while persuading the suspect to surrender.

Some residents who were not allowed into their apartments were spending the night with friends, ABC7 reported. The suspect was taken into custody around 1:30 a.m.

Details of the case the man was wanted for were not immediately disclosed by police.
