Naked Man Tries to Snatch Baby at Graduation Ceremony, Police Say

A man has been arrested after trying to grab a baby at a school ceremony in Chatsworth.

A naked man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly grabbing a baby at a children’s graduation ceremony, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

No one was hurt in the incident, but an ambulance was called to treat the man, who may have overdosed on drugs, said Officer Drake Madison.

The incident happened at 10:20 a.m. at a rec center at the 1000 block of Mason Avenue.

“We basically had a naked guy go into a rec center where there were a bunch of children,” said Madison. “It’s a bit premature to say he was trying to kidnap anyone.”

The suspect was at the event with his 11-year-old sister, he was delusional and wouldn’t have gotten very far if he was trying to kidnap the baby, said Madison.

“He was probably just wacked out of his mind,” he said.

Other people in the area held the man -- whose name was not immediately released -- until police arrived and took him into custody, said Los Angeles police Officer Liliana Preciado.

At this point, he is getting the medical help he needs and is likely to face charges, added Madison.
