New Lighting system at the Granada HIlls Community Christmas tree

The Granada Hills Rotary Foundation is proud to announce a new lighting system that has been installed on the Granada Hills Community Christmas tree located at the Veteran’s Park on the corner of Chatsworth Street and Zelzah.
Granada Hills Rotary has made many improvement to the Veteran’s Park over the years. Today, The Veteran’s Park is the focal point for the Granada Hills Community.
The local residents have decorated The Granada Hills Community Christmas Tree ever since Rita Ciccarelli first suggest decorating it in 1983. Rita marveled at the potential for the existing tall singular tree at the key Zelzah Ave /Chatsworth Street intersection. Rita thought it would be a perfect opportunity to create a Community Christmas Tree for Granada Hills and other communities to enjoy ..

Rita’s Tree.
Landscape Architect Gene Behrns has been donating his time to maintain the Vet’s Park with flowers, trimming the grass, trees and shrubs for many years. It was Gene who found the lighting company that sold and installed the system at the Vet’s Park, Mobile Illumination located in Chatsworth, CA.
Honorary Major of Granada Hills, Dr. Carl Melnik says, “What makes Granada Hills the “THE VALLEY’S MOST NEIGHBORLY TOWN” is because of people coming together time and time again to make Granada Hills a great place to live.”
This new state of the art lighting system brings the Veteran’s Park into the 21 Century with computer controlled color changing LEDs. It is something to behold and I encourage everyone to come see for yourself. The lights will be on each night in December from 5:30pm to 1:00 am. We will be lighting the tree for each Holiday next year as well.. so stop by on Valentine’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July etc……
