Pedestrian, 65, Hit By Vehicle, Killed Monday Night

CANOGA PARK, CA -- A 65-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle in Canoga Park, and the driver stayed at the scene to be questioned by officers, police said today.

The accident took place at the intersection of De Soto Avenue and Vanowen Street just after 10 p.m. Monday, said a a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division.

The man was hit as he was crossing the street and died at the scene, the officer said. His name was withheld pending family notification.

The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with police, the officer said. He was not cited or arrested.
