Pedestrian Killed By Train In Northridge

A person died at the scene after being struck by an Amtrak Coast Starlight train in Northridge Tuesday morning.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — A pedestrian was struck and killed instantly by an Amtrak train in Northridge.

Paramedics were called to the scene in the 8700 block of Reseda Boulevard at about 11:10 a.m. and pronounced the victim dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department reported. The fatality forced some passengers to take buses. Authorities did not immediately release information about the pedestrian's identity.

The northbound Amtrak train No. 14, the Coast Starlight "struck one pedestrian on or near the railroad tracks west of Reseda Boulevard," the LAFD reported.

Information was not immediately available on the identity or gender of the fatally injured person.

Buses were sent to assist passengers on Metrolink's Ventura County Line train No. 112, and will make all stops into Los Angeles between Chatsworth and Union Station, according to Metrolink.
