Person Stabbed At Westfield Topanga Mall

CANOGA PARK, CA — One person was hospitalized and a suspect was taken into custody after a stabbing Tuesday afternoon at the Westfield Topanga mall, authorities said.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded at about 12:55 p.m. to the mall on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, according to police.

The attack occurred near a parking garage entrance, Fox 11 reported.

One person was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, police said. The suspect remained at the scene and was taken into custody, according to Fox 11.

NBC Los Angeles reported that two people were detained following an altercation involving two possibly intoxicated people. The station also reported that firefighter-paramedics transported two people to a hospital and that investigators recovered a knife.

Police had not publicly identified the people involved or released details about what led to the confrontation.

The circumstances remained under investigation.
