Porter Ranch Blaze Knocked Down

A small fire in the Porter Ranch area briefly closed the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway​ before firefighters were able to put it out.

PORTER RANCH, CA — A small brush fire briefly forced lane closures on the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, but the Los Angeles Fire Department was able to contain the blaze to three-acres, knocking it down within an hour and a half..

According to the California Highway Patrol, three of the eastbound lanes of the 118 were closed as of 2:45 p.m. The fire was first reported shortly after two p.m, in the 11200 block of North Tampa Avenue near the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. It quickly spread to three acres.

The fire briefly closed all eastbound lanes, but several lanes quickly reopened, according to the California Highway Patrol.

No one was hurt in the fire and homes were threatened, said Stewart.
