Reseda Park to Feature Free Wi-Fi, Starting Tomorrow

Visitors to a half-dozen city park areas will be able to access free public Wi-Fi beginning tomorrow as part of a pilot program.

The free service, dubbed “Oh, Ranger! Wi-Fi,” is being backed financially by Toyota and will be available at designated “hot spot” areas at Cabrillo Beach, Echo Park Lake, Griffith Observatory, Pershing Square, Reseda Park and Venice Beach.

City Councilmen Tom LaBonge, Bob Blumenfield and Mitch O’Farrell plan to take part in an afternoon news conference at Griffith Observatory to unveil the service.

In conjunction with the pilot project, the city’s Department of Recreation and Parks will also introduce a mobile website, m.laparks.org, where park visitors can make service requests that will go directly to the department’s construction and maintenance division.
