San Fernando Valley Killer Sought

A 29-year-old man died after being shot multiple times in front of a North Hills apartment complex, police said.

NORTH HILLS, CA – The killer of a 29-year-old North Hills man was on the loose Thursday.

The victim was shot and killed just before 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 8700 block of Langdon Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers responded to a radio call of shots fired and found Alfreado Linares down, unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

"Preliminary investigation revealed Linares was standing in front of an apartment complex when a dark vehicle stopped," according to a police statement. "A suspect exited the vehicle and exchanged words with Linares. The suspect shot Linares multiple times, re-entered the vehicle, then fled south on Langdon Avenue."

A detailed description of the male shooter was not available, nor was a description of the vehicle, and police have not said if the killing was gang- related.
