Santa Barbara Lunchtime Event to Provide Musical Instruments, Teacher Training

On September 19, the founders of “Keep Music Alive” will bring their “88+ Ways” Book and Music Tour to the world class SOHO Restaurant and Music Club in Santa Barbara, California.

Performers at the noon lunchtime show will include Erin Carere, Victoria DeMare, Rose Kingsley, Vincent James plus other special guests. Proceeds from the September 19th tour event will help provide musical instruments and teacher training for local Santa Barbara schools.

The tour seeks to bring music and stories from the book “88+ Ways Music Can Change Your Life” to as many venues as possible. Volume 1 in the new book series was released June 1 and features over 150 inspirational stories, anecdotes and quotes from musicians and music fans from all over the world.

More than twenty Grammy‐winning and Platinum‐selling artists, composers and songwriters also contributed to the book including Bobby Kimball (Toto), Simon Kirke (Bad Company), Vanessa Carlton, Siedah Garrett (Michael Jackson), Rick Wakeman (Yes), Rob Parissi (Wild Cherry/Play That Funky Music), Rob Hyman & Eric Bazilian (The Hooters), Billy Steinberg (Madonna), Bill Champlin (Chicago), Rose Kingsley (Metropolitan Opera Singer & Ballerina) , Fred Mollin (Friday the 13th, Hard Copy, Beyond Reality), Michel Rubini (Nemisis, The Hitchhiker, Tales from the Crypt), Jay Gruska (Cocoon‐Movie, Supernatural‐TV, Charmed‐TV)

Keep Music Alive was founded last summer to raise awareness of how important music is educationally, therapeutically and for the overall happiness of society. According to co-founder Vincent James, it was created in response to three changes helping to make music less valued. They include cuts in music and arts education in schools, fewer venues available for musicians to perform live and the recent changeover to the streaming business model.

James co‐wrote “88+ Ways Music Can Change Your Life” with KMA co=founder Joann Pierdomenico. Volume 1 is available in paperback and e‐book on Amazon.com and BN.com. 50 percent of the proceeds from all book & e-book sales are being donated to foundations providing music instruments and lessons to schools and communities in need. Current beneficiaries are Guitars in the Classroom, Spirit of Harmony and Mr. Hollands Opus.
