Shepherd Church To Host Drive-Up Food Bank

The Porter Ranch church is offering free food Friday morning, one of many spots around the Valley helping the hungry.

PORTER RANCH, CA — As the year-anniversary of COVID approaches, times are still as tough as ever. But LA Regional Food Bank, Shepherd Church in Porter Ranch, and a number of other local organizations are offering a bit of relief. From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, they will be hosting a drive-thru food drive at Shepherd Church on 1900 Rinaldi Street in Porter Ranch.

The Food Bank donated 2,000 boxes of canned food that People will receive box of canned food and dry that should last a family of four one week, Shepherd Church Special Events Coordinator Kawika Keliikuli told Patch.

No eligibility or appointment is required, although the event is drive-thru only - no walkups are allowed, and masks are required. The line formation begins at 8:30 a.m.

Though this is a one-time event for the church, Keliikuli told Patch that the church hosts blood drives every other month for the Red Cross, puts on food drives for the Children's Hunger Fund, and helps with Light Up The Night, the largest holiday event for foster care families in the state of California.

"Shepherd Church’s heart will always be to impact the community as positively and as frequently as possible," he said.
