Shots Fired Near DA Jackie Lacey's Granada Hills Home
Suspects opened fire with members of Lacey's security staff during an attempted carjacking Saturday night.
GRANADA HILLS, CA — A shooting occurred Saturday night near the home of outgoing L.A. District Attorney Jackie Lacey's Granada Hills home, police have reported. The shooting resulted from an attempted car theft.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Lacey's security team from the D.A. office had two parked cars outside of her home at the 17900 block of Mayerling Street in Granada Hills around 6:21 p.m. As a security officer exited one of the cars, two suspects pulled up in their own vehicle.
Members of Lacey's security team noticed suspects attempting to steal a parked car in the area. While confronting the suspects, one of the officers opened fire. The two suspects fled the scene without being struck.

LAPD Commander Alan Hamilton said that the suspects crashed their vehicle after fleeing, and entered another vehicle. No arrests have been made.
Police say that they don't believe Lacey, the controversial DA who just lost her seat to San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon, was a target of the shooting, or had any involvement in it.
