Sierra Canyon Girls Lose to Vista in State Volleyball Playoffs
The Trailblazers fall in straight sets but can look back on an impressive season.
VISTA -- Sierra Canyon High's girls volleyball team were very good. They just ran into someone better.
The Trailblazers were swept in three games Saturday in the second round of the CIF State Div. V playoffs at Tri-City Christian in Vista near San Diego, falling to an opponent that has won four consecutive section titles and is on the brink of a third consecutive berth in the state finals.
Exceeding expectations, Sierra Canyon succeeded with a team of mostly underclassmen, including four freshman, three sophomores, and two juniors.

Sierra Canyon won a state playoff match for the first time Tuesday at Fresno Christian and ended up being among the top eight in the state in Div. V.
Seniors Justin St Charles, Victoria Wells, Eva Perry, and Jaci Lerner have helped to build a winning tradition, and with so many top players returning, perhaps the best is yet to come.
