SigAlert: 4 LAPD Officers Hurt In Chase Crash On 118 Freeway

The four officers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

PACOIMA, CA — Four Los Angeles Police officers were injured Monday morning when their vehicle collided with an SUV they were chasing. The crash ended with four officers hospitalized, two robbery suspects in custody and a SigAlert on the westbound 118 Freeway.

The chase started at 4:30 a.m. at Foothill Boulevard and Wentworth Street, according to the LAPD. Two patrol units began chasing a pair of robbery suspects driving a white Mercedes-Benz SUV . A short time later, the chase ended in a crash when one of the patrol cars and the SUV collided on the Glenoaks Boulevard onramp, said LAPD Officer Jeff Lee.

The two suspects were taken into custody, he said.

The officers were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries not believed life-threatening, Lee said.

KCBS radio is reporting one officer sustained a broken leg.

Information on whether the suspects were hurt was unavailable.

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert shutting down the Glenoaks Boulevard offramp from the 118 Freeway and the Glenoaks Boulevard onramp to the westbound 188 due to the police activity.
