Valley Man Arrested After Stabbing To Death Dogs Biting Him: LAPD

The confusing incident unfolded in a backyard where officers responding to a reported home invasion found a man with a knife and dead dogs.

SUN VALLEY, CA — A Los Angeles man is facing animal cruelty charges after stabbing to death two dogs in the backyard of a relative's Sun Valley home, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Alejandro Flores, 45, was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty and is being held on $60,000 bail.

The attack occurred shortly before 4 p.m, 9200 block of Cayuga Avenue in Sun Valley where officers were called to respond to a report of a home-invasion robbery, according to the LAPD.

"Witnesses advised that the suspect was in the backyard of a residence, armed with a knife and
was possibly being attacked by dogs at the property," the LAPD said in a written release.

The witnesses then told police the man was stabbing three dogs in the home's backyard.

"Officers made contact with the suspect and observed a knife in his right hand, as well as two deceased dogs in the yard," The LAPD wrote. "A use-of-force occurred, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident."

A third dog was wounded in the attack and rushed to an animal clinic in unknown condition.

After taking the man into custody, officers contacted the homeowners and learned that the suspect was a known relative who lived at the home, according to the LAPD.

It wasn't immediately clear what led up to the violence between the resident and the dogs.
